For those of us who share our podcast obsession, you’re likely no stranger to the sensational and iconic BBC Radio 4 collection of Desert Island Discs interviews. As we Marie Kondo our lives for Spring cleaning, we’ve been thinking about the tunes, the treats and the tomes we’d save from the waves were we stranded in solitude on an island faraway.
Here, our knockout of an Event & Studio Director at Cook Space, Eliza Zweig, tells us why all she’d need to make her island oasis extraordinary, is a snorkel, a little Leon Bridges, and a whole lot of EVOO.
Al Pastor tacos
My favorite taco checks off all of the main food groups and wraps them all up in a little tortilla. I’m also assuming there’s some fresh guac on top.
Steak-cut fries with ketchup and spicy mayo
My ultimate comfort food, plus I can use the condiments with whatever else I find to eat on the island.
Yogurt with granola
My go-to breakfast which I plan to eat with whatever fresh fruit this island has to offer.
Mint chocolate chip ice cream
It’s chocolatey and refreshing and I’m assuming refrigeration isn’t a consideration here…
I felt like I was missing some vegetables on here, and there’s nothing I love more in hot weather than tomatoes and fresh cheese with herbs swimming in a pool of EVOO.
Arguably every (savory) dish needs some garlic. At least in my kitchen.
Red pepper flakes
I sprinkle these on everything.
A runny egg on top of literally anything makes it a complete meal. I would also use eggs to make omelettes or scrambles with the island ingredients I can find to supplement. Also always down with a good hard boiled egg.
I’m assuming that there will be days I’m too tired from trying to survive to cook up a complex meal, so it would be nice to have some dried pasta on hand to cook up when I’m feeling a little lazy.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Great to drizzle on stuff, and okay to cook with- I use EVOO too much to be able to live without it.

I Like It by Cardi B
Better Man by Leon Bridges
I love being in the water and could spend hours just swimming around with the fish.
